Description
The Gare du Nord is the largest station in Paris. It opened in 1846 and the building itself was designed by the architect Jacques Hittorf in 1861 in a modern neoclassical style with a majestic facade decorated with 23 statues by famous sculptors. The Gare du Nord provides a large network of rail links to the northern suburbs of Paris (RER), Lille (TGV), Brussels, Amsterdam and Cologne (Thalys), London (Eurostar), etc.
